Justin Lombardo joins SG Collaborative Solutions with a principal focus on transforming learning and development functions into Human Performance Improvement systems. Justin is one of the first Executive Learning professionals to successfully reform learning/development and human performance systems in healthcare for greater effectiveness and efficiency.
Most recently, he served as Vice President, Learning Institute and Chief Learning Officer for Children’s Medical Center, Dallas, where he was recruited to transform the learning and development functions. All education, training (clinical and non-clinical), leadership development, organizational development, employee communication were focused under his leadership, which improved impact on patient and family service, the quality of clinical outcomes, and the organization’s strategic plan. The effort was recognized by the Board as a strategic asset for the Medical Center.
Prior to joining Children’s, Justin served for nine years as Chief Learning Executive at Northwestern Memorial Healthcare, Chicago, where he developed the NM Academy, which was responsible for learning initiatives. Under his leadership, the Chicago Business Council and Mayor Richard Daley presented Northwestern Memorial the Workforce Chicago 2.0 Award for outstanding employee education and development in 2004. In 2009, Northwestern was named Best-In-Class for Training and Development, as part of the 100 Best Companies for Working Mother magazine awards.
Prior to this, Justin spent 15 years at Motorola University, a pioneer in corporate learning initiatives, where he was one of the early leaders of this groundbreaking corporate university. He led various training and education functions globally, including work in China, the Middle East, Latin America and Central and Eastern Europe.
He has served on education and training/development advisory boards at the regional, national, and international level, including a Task Force on Technology Education for an agency of the United Nations; Center for Creative Leadership Corporate Advisory Board; Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern University; and the Center for Nursing Excellence. He was appointed by the Governor of Illinois to the state’s Task Force on Workforce Development. He currently serves as a member of the Editorial Board for MediaTec, Inc. and sits on two university advisory panels for graduate studies in healthcare and public service leadership.
In 2012, his work in the field was recognized in a cover article about him for the 10th anniversary edition of Chief Learning Officer magazine.
Justin continues to be an invited conference speaker on learning and development, the impact of generational variables on management, employee engagement, and, most recently, on the use of social media in learning and development. Some of his engagements include the Latin American Marketing Congress, International Corporate University Week, Chief Learning Officer Symposium, National Conference on Clinical and Nursing Education, Corporate University Forum, and IPQC Corporate University Symposium. He has delivered Grand Rounds at various medical centers on such topics as models for effective healthcare training, nursing development, generational variables and ethics and high reliability team models for healthcare.
